1. Birds
Birds they whistle songs, we whisper words
The language of the sky, upon the wind it flies
Words, what do they mean if birds sing us a song
We long and linger on together.
Shades behind a tree, something we can’t see hides inside the dark. The dark.
Love, the sky is clear above. You look outside to see, the night is what you see.
Above the sky is soft my love. You say:” you’re soft yourself”.
We sleep upon a shelf.
But we fear to fall, wait for death to call:” Wake up from this dream”.
This dream.
We’re awake, walking through the garden lover.
We’re awake, naked in the sunlight with the curtains drawn dive inside the ocean. And we fly away, far beyond the moon we stay, and sway around and kiss, until we touch the ground.
Back in my head I’m in the belly, the belly of the world.
And the world is a big fat whale swimming through deep blue seas of space.
And she knows the way. Whales know their way.
And they sing when it is dark. And bring me to a dream so bright, like daylight wide-awake. And bring a song so brave, we’ll sing it to the sky until the birds reply with laughter. And they’ll always fly, see the darkness die when the sun returns, it burns.
We’re awake, walking through the garden lover.
We’re awake, naked in the sunlight with the curtains drawn dive inside the ocean. And we fly away, far beyond the moon we stay, and sway around and kiss, until we touch the ground
Birds they whistle songs, we whisper words
The language of the sky, upon the wind it flies.

Hitchhiker's Zen

2. Hitchhiker’s Zen
Traveling through this life, no car to drive, my feet they carry my shoes, I carry my blues
Travel from place to place, inside my face my eyes they carry my soul I carry my goal. Tired of sleeping, walking in line, someone is stealing my time.
But that’s my weary mind.
Come along if you like, I’m gonna hike and see what’s laying ahead, to give and to get. Come along if you please across the seas and land, and even them skies we might have to sly. Tired of sleeping, walking in line, someone is stealing your time. But that’s your weary mind.
Happily try to be, and being alive you know that you’ll die and never return.
At least not the way you are now.
Where ever we may go the road will know it’s way and take us there safe, we have to be brave. Where the road leads a stray we’ll find our way back on and sing all along a travellers song. Tired of sleeping, walking in line, someone is stealing our time. But that’s our weary mind.

3. Watching the sunset in Tuscany with Mara by my side
Watching the sunset behind the hill. World keep on turning, I’m standing still.
World keep on turning around she goes. How long she’ll be turning, nobody knows.
I gaze at airplanes in the sky. They fly and their tails are gold. And then they’re gone. Each with some adventures, on-board.
Please tell me Mara, how does it end? He said:” Learn to perceive or learn to pretend. Learn to pretend or learn to perceive. The more you will practice the more you’ll achieve”
I can’t be satisfied. Wandering through the night. Drinks and places, beautiful faces, world turns around and it’s morning again.
Open the windows, open the door. Look at the sunrise. Roll on the floor.
Roll on the floor. Fly like a plane. Chasing the sunlight, losing a game.
My thoughts repeat themselves like days. And in a way they’re the same, but slowly they change.
Best to just watch the sunset behind the hill. World keep on turning, I’ll just stand still. World keep on turning, around you go. How long I will stand here, nobody knows. And time will pass on by. Eternity is why.
Drinks and places, beautiful faces. Look at earth as she dances ‘round in space.

4. Indian song
Good morning sunshine.
Good morning wind.
Good morning water, flow around the bend.
Good morning lover
By my side
You stayed beside me the whole night and my hands where holding your hands.
Sometimes my days are filled with fear and pain. I try to smile but I can’t smile.
My mind is split in two. I don’t know what to do sometimes. But after a while…
Good morning sunshine.
Good morning wind.
Good morning water, flow around the bend
Sometimes I lay awake and I can’t find. I can’t find no sleep.
My mind is split in two. I’m feeling sad and blue, so deep. Like valleys so deep…
Good morning sunshine.
Good morning wind.
Good morning water, flow around the bend.
Good morning lover
By my side
You stayed beside me the whole night and my hands where holding your hands.
Night and my hands where holding your hands.
Together we’ll flow, around the bend.

5. Oscar (‘Requiescat’ by Oscar Wilde arr. Remco Jacobs)
Tread lightly, she is near
Under the snow
Speak gently, she can hear
The daisies grow.
All her bright golden hair
Tarnished with rust
She that was young and fair
Fallen to dust.
Lily-like, white as snow
She hardly knew
She was a woman, so
Sweetly she grew.
(But now a) Coffin-board, heavy stone,
Lie on her breast
I vex my heart alone,
She is at rest
Peace, peace, she cannot hear
Lyre or sonnet,
All my life’s buried here,
Heap earth upon it.

Sailing through the rain

6. Sailing through the rain.
Sailing through the rain. Back and forth between black and white.
Sailing through the rain. The rain falling high and low.
The water falls in my hands. The raindrops dance.
Sailing through the rain. Back and forth between fall and spring.
Autumn in my hair I sing, sailing through the rain. La la la la la
The window is open wide. It’s raining inside.
Write a letter, throw a penny
Hear the children they’re with many
See the flags wave, on the steeple
Think about all of the people
Sailing through the rain.
Sailing through the rain. Back and forth between black and white.
Sailing through the rain. The rain falling high and low.

7. Vlieland
We sat upon the shore, listening to the ocean’s roar.
The sky was the sea and the sea was the sky.
Oh who paints the firmament way up hight?
We don’t know and need not to know
We heard the ocean roar, fishing boats passed the shore.
With their lights lit in evening gaze.
Oh who hid the horizon in a haze?
Blue and green and yellowy lights in our eyes.
In our eyes! La la la la…
Follow the night. Our eyes grew heavy with sleep.
Stare at the sea all them waves echo deep in our selves.
La la la la…
We sat under moon and stars. Dreamed of journeys, travelling far.
Swim out in seas, water endless in sight.
Oh what will be there on the other side?
We will see. And what is dream?
Come my lover let’s swim far, to the moon, to the stars.
Penetrate into the walls of the night.
Oh Mystic Ocean deep and wide.
Give us life and dreams we can sleep on tonight, we’ll follow the lights of the fishing boats passing the shore, till we can’t see them no more.
La la la la…
